The second day brought a plenary
session featuring a talk by PMI Chair
Randy Black, P.Eng., PMP. Mr. Black
related his own personal volunteering
story. He talked about PMI’s 50-year
history, as project management
transitioned from “something we do as
part of another role” to a true profession.
Mr. Black noted that project management is more important than ever due to
the increased focus on value realization.
A goal of the yearlong 50th anniversary
I N S I D E otivated by a strong desire to
improve the member value
proposition of their chapters,
chapter leaders from around the Asia
Pacific region came together in February
for a Leadership Institute Meeting
(LIM). Attendees enjoyed the theme of
celebrating PMI’s 50th anniversary.
One-hundred sixty attendees
representing 26 countries and 35
chapters participated in the event that
took place in Penang, Malaysia.
The LIM opened with region meetings, as
chapter leaders learned and exchanged
information with their geographically
closest compatriots. A networking social
at the end of the day enabled participants
to meet and greet in an informal setting.
