Student PathwayStudent Pathway is a professionaldevelopment journey that lasts 18months and is aimed at studentsor professionals associated withPMI and the PMI São Paulo, BrazilChapter who are at the beginningof—or are transitioning—theircareers. The program is dividedinto steps that, at first, assistthe participant in developingself-knowledge, identifying theirprofessional moment and drawingtheir career goals. It then presentsworking and training sessions onproject management foundationsusing the agile approach, leadershiptechniques, tools and practices tofurther develop participants’ skillsin these areas. Finally, an internshipstage is held for the programs,partners or social projects at the PMISão Paulo, Brazil Chapter. The entirepath will be supported by mentoringand coaching activities, providing allthe necessary guidance and backingthe participant needs.
The Student Pathway programaims at providing knowledge tothe participant in an integratedmanner—education that makessense to their professional careers.
As a benefit to the members of
the PMI São Paulo, Brazil Chapter,
the only cost is that of their
membership dues. The participants
of the Student Pathway are
recognized at certain milestones
of the path by being mentioned in
the chapter’s marketing efforts,
such as the newsletter, social media
and happy hour events. During
the entire course, the participant
will have free access to any event
held by the PMI São Paulo, Brazil
Chapter (seminars, conferences,
double shot, meetup, happy hour,
etc.). The more the participants get
involved, the higher the visibility and
recognition they receive in the form
of accumulated points, transforming
the journey into a great game among
the participants. At the end of the
18-month journey, where they must
go through all stages in sequence,
the participants will be accredited
by the PMI São Paulo, Brazil Chapter
with a participation certificate in the
The Pathway Steps:
◆ Selection process: The selectionprocess includes sending an emailto present the program andenrollment information.
◆ Engagement workshop: Theengagement activities providestudents with an opportunity totalk to the chapter board andlearn about the most desiredcompetencies.
◆ Self-discovery workshop: Thepurpose of this workshop is for theparticipant to schedule a groupmeeting of self-discovery withpeople who also feel the sameneed, being united by the samepurpose to dedicate some timefor themselves.
◆ Career workshop: This providesparticipants with a careerdevelopment model and guidesthem in the use of that model.
◆ Mentoring:This allowsmentors andmentees tointeract andjointly seeka path toprofessionaland personalsuccessfor thoselooking fora change orimprovementin theirprojectmanagementcareers.
◆ Foundations: This provides thestudent with a foundationalknowledge in project managementusing an agile approach.
◆ Leadership: This gives participantsa leadership model and guidesthem in the use of that model.
◆ Tools: The purpose is to presenttools for project managementto assist in the optimization ofprocesses, making their tasksfaster and more agile, andtransforming their daily routineinto something much moreproductive.
◆ Practices: The purpose of thisis to simulate a project in theclassroom, applying fundamentalproject management concepts,such as development of a schedule,budgeting, monitoring and control,risk events, contingencies andengagement of stakeholders.
◆ Internship: Internship includesparticipating in the PMI São Paulo,Brazil Chapter initiatives (volunteer,partners and social projects).
◆ Coaching: This involves assistingin the development of capabilitiesand skills for each participant,reaching personal and professionaltargets and purposes.
