PMI Panama Chapter
First
Symposium
Is a Success,
Attracting More
Than 200 Participants
THE PMI PANAMA CHAPTER held its
first symposium in March, attracting more than 200
attendees from eight countries. The four-day
event was organized with the collaboration of the
Panama Canal Authority and CH2M Hill.
The symposium included two full-day workshops, followed by a whole day of presentations,
two keynote speakers and three topic tracks.
The last two days consisted of courses from the
PMI College of Performance Management (
PMI-CPM). This was PMI-CPM’s first appearance in
Latin America.
The first day presentations included “Creating
Excellence in and Through Project Management”
by Randy Englund and “Opportunity Unstuck
Workshops” by Tom Sheives, PMP.
The second day featured Jorge Quijano’s opening keynote presentation on the biggest challenges
of the Panama Canal expansion program, and Mike
Kennedy’s closing keynote presentation on managing post-crisis and disaster relief programs.
With four authors presenting workshops and
track sessions, the symposium demonstrated PMI's
capabilities to provide opportunities to grow in the
project management field.
