Within the past month,
PMI has implemented a
revised download process
for A Guide to the Project Management
Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—
Fourth Edition,
which strikes
a balance
between protection of intellectual property
and ease of use
by PMI members. The new
solution aims
to address difficulties some members
recently reported in accessing the
new update of the PMBOK® Guide,
while still protecting the Institute’s
intellectual property rights.
Unique among standards-setting
organizations, PMI has always provided members with complimentary
access to its key global standard, the
PMBOK® Guide. As technology has
changed, the Institute has continued
to provide members a copy of this
standard, but in different media.
In 2000, with the publication of
the PMBOK® Guide—2000 Edition,
members no longer received a printed copy but obtained the standard
via a CD-ROM. Existing members
